yellow
Hi, people! Let me intriduce myself: I'm a postgraduate from Ukraine and I want you to help me in my research work. My tutor has said me to compare concepts of the word yellow in the English and in the Russian languages (it's psycholinguistics). But I haven’t got many acquaintances whose native language is English. I need 100 answers minimum! Help me please if English is your native language. I'll be very grateful! It could be a kind of entertainment for you.
The assignment is very easy: you should find words (nearly 5 examples), which to your mind are connected with the word YELLOW and put near each word combination plus (+) if it is positive for you, or minus (-) if it is negative for you, or zero (0) if it is neutral for you.
For example: YELLOW chicken +
YELLOW................
Thanks in advance!

RE: yellow
Thank you very much, Ladybird!
I find out more and more about yellow concept. In general I have already English 48 answers and 74 Russian ones! It is very interesting to compare. For ex there aren't Russian answers as Yellow Hammer or Buttercups at all, but there are dandylions and a lot of tulips.
If somebody else has ideas they'll be useful for me!

RE: yellow
Thanks! Now I'll digest them to.
Repitition is Ok, because only if people repeat the combinations, it's not casual, but phenomena.
Oh! Yellow dog! Thanks! Now I've understood that it's about a person. There are some yellow dogs in my answers and I didn't attach importance to it. I thought that it was real dogs

RE: yellow
So what is a Yellow Dog? Apart from a Martin Amis novel.
"In the late 19th century and throughout the 20th century, yellow dog Democrats were voters in the U.S. Southern states who consistently voted for Democratic candidates because of lingering resentment against Republicans from the Civil War and Reconstruction periods. The term arose from the notion that a Southerner would vote for a yellow dog before voting for a Republican."
I know that most of you now probably think of the southern US states as being very conservative--which they are! But, until the advent of the Civil Rights movement, the southern states voted for Democrats.

RE: yellow
Thanks a lot!
Now I have 57 responses. 43 left.
I've found an interesting fact about the origin of the word "yellow": it came fron the common Indoeuropian word "ghel", which denoted yellow and green as well. There was no difference between these colours that days!
