A while ago I wrote that I would like one day to see a sunflower field. I think Kingfisher suggested a trip to America as they had many. I have just come back from a trip in France and had to post this picture - the first of many wishes I hope to fulfil in my life time.

That look beautiful. I tried to grow lots of sunflowers this year by throwing in handfuls of seeds in the borders and mixing them in. Most gt eaten by slugs though.

That's wonderful! I have just come back from an area where some of the farmers have three or four rows of sunflowers. I can only imagine how glorious a display a whole field of them must make.

I said in the last thread that I had seen them in France.It was really something to see sunflowers for as far as you could see.Where did you see them Jane?

I saw the sunflowers in France. We were driving along the Loire valley and there were odd fields of them. I was worried that they may have gone past their best as it was the beginning of August, but luckily not.

How about visiting this place:



It's Ain el-Lebekha in the western Desert in Egypt, about 600 km south of Cairo and 250 km west of the Nile. It's in an area that I have visited to look at the archaeological remains, dating back to the Roman era, this area being on the most southerly border of the Roman Empire.

I have never seen a sunflower field either, they look amazing and when I net visit France I will try and make a detour to see one if they are relatively close.

Wild canon, that looks like an incredible place. The sunflowers almost look out of place with the lack of other vegatation in the distance.
