Storms
Has anyone been affected by the storms that are sweeping across the country?
Luckily we haven't had too much trouble in Southampton apart from a bit of heavy rain last night, although the forecast is heavy rain for the rest of the day so I better go and check the flooding reports to see if there is any danger.

RE: Storms
Not to bad up here at the moment, but the wind is starting to pick up a bit.
The weather was very bad on Sat after when i was coming back down from Mull. The motorway was like a river with the rain blowing across horizontal, not a pleasant experience to drive in. [/i]

RE: Storms
Family in Kent lost their shed roof which ended up in a neighbours garden.
Here in Cardiff it's been wet and windy.

Absolutely terrible here in Essex. While walking to school this morning, I stepped in a 4" deep puddle and my whole shoe was filled with water during the first and 2nd lesosn!

RE: Storms
Here it's been not too bad, we haven't had the worst of it. Apart from a few blown over bins nothing of note. Hopefully the worst of it is over now?

RE: Storms
Today was absolutely fine round my way in Surrey, but yesterday there were several road diversions because of fallen trees! And like you Bill, we had rubbish and recycling floating around because everyone had put it out the night before for collection!
Is that the last of the storms that they know of?

RE: Storms
It's been a very nice day all of today in Southampton, so I think the worst of the storms are definitely over. Did anyone find it surprising how much news coverage the storms got? Perhaps it was just to make sure we weren't caught out again with flash flooding, but the coverage did seem a bit extreme.

RE: Storms
Its pretty wild up here at the moment, we are getting gusts of around 60-80mph. Luckily everything sems to be holding up, a few branches of trees, but thats about it (so far!!).
As you say i think the forcasters now, after hurricane in 87, always say it is going to be worse than it actually gets just to cover themselves.
