RE: starlings

Not really you could get the cages that only allow the smaller birds in. I love starlings, and find that they will only come if you provide the right conditions for them.

RE: starlings

They will probably be youngsters and will move on eventually. I hardly have any starlings in my garden, you should consider yourself lucky!

I don't have a big starling population visiting, but I find that you can sometimes distract them from your main feeding area by putting out some very large lumps of bread (whole loaves are ideal if you can afford them) soaked in water in another place. You need to make them really soggy to prevent crows flying off with the whole lot.

RE: starlings

We've got quite a big group of starlings live around here. Around breakfast time and again around 4pm, they all move as a group along the front lawns of the houses (we don't have any front fences) and there are usually at least two thrushes with them. After they've done the front patrol, they move to the back gardens and seem to visit each one in turn. Mostly they pick at bits and pieces on the grass. They don't usually get a chance at the fat balls - the wood pigeons get to those first!!

Do as you would be done by. Do as you would be did. A burning pot is mighty hot, so don't sit on the lid.
