Siskins

Has anyone ever had these birds in their garden? Apparently now is the time of year when they might turn up. What can I put out to attract them?

RE: Siskins

Hi there Jolanta, Yes I have had them in the garden occasionally. They like peanuts, Niger seed and sunflower hearts.

I had a pair visiting for a few weeks in the summer usually on the peanuts but haven't seen any recently, they are beautiful birds to get in the garden. Icon_smile I hope you manage to attract them.

A garden is always a series of losses set against a few triumphs, like life itself.

RE: Siskins

I had a few in my garden last year and in January this year, but then they stopped coming, apparently they like the coluor red, but make sure you use solid feeders and not the plastic meshy bag ones.

RE: Siskins

Siskins were all over the Isles of Scilly this October, 1000's of them, completely oblivious to how close you got to them. Often got within 5-6 inches to some, superb birds at such close range.

RE: Siskins

Yes same. I just like to take photos, and don't plan to turn it into a career, but I do need to start thinking about my Year 10 options for GCSE though!
