Shetland Islands

Did anyone see the start of the new series of Coast in Sunday night? It was on the islands North of Scotland, mainly the shetlands. Some of the coast lines were stunning. There was a beach that was completely made up of boulder sized rocks that had been piled on top of each other like a quarry over thousands of years.

The next episode is on the Southern coastlines so I'm looking forward to that one.

RE: Shetland Islands

I did see parts of the episode, my favourite bit was when they showed the sea "gateway" on one of the Shetland islands, where the sea cas carved a pathway out of the huge cliffs. At the time they were filming the sea didn't even reach the gateway, but they showed a video of the film where the waves were crashing over the top!

RE: Shetland Islands

Has anyone here been to the Shetland islands? It seems like it is one of the few untouched places left in the UK.

That might change with all the wind farms they are planing there though.

RE: Shetland Islands

I haven't been to the shetland islands, but I have visited the main Orkney islands briefly a long time ago. I would like to go back and explore the many islands there, they really are secluded and you feel as if you are getting away from it all.
