Red Squirrels Film - Red Clowns!

I filmed this in my second week in Scotland, a place called Lassintuloch, near Kinloch Rannoch & the lady who runs the self catering cottages there feeds the Red Squirrels. I had no idea that Reds could be so tame - when the first one ran straight past me, I was speechless for ages. So the next morning I took my camera & sat opposite the bucket of nuts & this is what I filmed:

They certainly know where the food is, don't they?

How many squirrels were there? It looked as if there were three different animals, but it's difficult to tell.

What a trip you had, though. Red Stags rutting, Red Squirrels eating...hmmm, anything else 'Red' up there?

Well lots of Red leaves! Autumn is really happening up there, faster then down here in the South West of the UK, where the leaves are still green & I noticed an Oak in the hedgerow with new green buds!

I also saw otters, a mountain Hare & roe deer - but couldn't film them, as the otters dived, the hare was too far up & the roe deer ran away at my sight! Oh well, thank god for the reds!

It sounds as if you had a perfectly lovely time!

Apropos of the Oak with new buds...yesterday on my walk in the woods I noticed a foxglove still blooming away! I shall have to see about getting a photo.

That's brilliant footage, I had no idea they would be that tame either.

Well apparently another creature visited that same white bucket full of nuts only yesterday evening - a pine martin! You see, once there's food to be had, shy animals lose their caution & take advantage!
