Quail spotting

I have never had the chance to see a quail in the wild, and to be honest, I don't really know where to look. How is the best way to go about looking for them? What kind of habiat should I be aiming for?

RE: Quail spotting

The best time to see quails in the UK is in the summer, and as has been mentioned here before (I think) it is often best to listen for their call and then try and see them, rather than just looking for them. Here is the call if you're not sure what it sounds like.

RE: Quail spotting

Thanks for the clip riana, at least I know exactly what I'm listening for now. I'll keep an ear out for it from now on, I'll let you know how the search goes.

RE: Quail spotting

No problem! They are fairly hard to spot, I've heard them many times before but only seen one a few times.
