I've heard that pike have the power and strength to kill birds from many people but I've never seen it happen (I'm sure not many people have) and never had it confirmed.

Is it true? I've seen they have massive jaws!

Pike have a wide ranging diet, mainly made up of other fish and even other pikes.

According to wikipedia though "Small birds such as ducklings may become a target for hungry pike. Pikes are also known to prey on swimming snakes, such as vipers. Big pike have been known to swallow adult wild ducks whole."

A pike eating an adder orn adult duck would be a fascinating but gruesome sight! I would like to see a photo if anyone has one.

Pike are extremely powerful, so it wouldn't be impossible for them to eat small birds if they got close enough to the waters edge. It must be a very rare and exceptional case though.

I wouldn't describe an adult duck as particularly small! If that is true then it is astonishing. I can't imagine a pike swallowing a bird that size whole.
