I thought that I would update you. Now quarantine is over Little meets Large. The bigger one is Dylan, female though (I got better at sexing them as I got older) the little one cannot be sexed until the age of 4yrs. Babies are progressing but I was interested to show you the difference in size.
I have had Dylan for 40 years next year & she has a 7 yrd old friend Shelley. They are kept seperate from the babies.
No she wasn't Kingfisher , she seems about the same size as when I got her. Although she started with what we thought was a split in her shell this year but it turned out it is new growth a bit like an expansion joint!!! I used to weight her regularly for winter & she weighs about 3lbs/1.36 kilos.

Two weeks ago , whilst on our leave we had to have Alice the black lop-eared rabbit put down. We couldn't believe two in such a short time!
Last monday we thought we would visit a local rescue centre called 'Bleakholt' that takes in most other sorts of animals not only rabbits & we enquired as to their conidtions of adoption. They were really nice & we have reserved a rabbit who had been a stray & we are upto a homecheck on Tuesday.
Oh my, that's terrible about Alice. My heartfelt sympathy to you and skippy...Accident? Disease? Unknown?
I know the centre will find you to be fit parents, though, and at least you will be able to give another rabbit a good home, just as you gave Alice a good life.
Alice had something wrong that even the vet wasn't sure what was going on. She lost condition & went thin & she had been tested & was being treated for a respiratory infection eg sore scabby nose but we had that under control, even though the lab tests showed nothing unusual ,then some hair fell out so the vet thought it might be mites so she was treated for that , then she came up with varying sizes of abscesses on her body . The vet didn't know if it was treatable & wanted to put her under anaesthetic & send it off to the lab but she would still be left covered in them. I have had expoerience of them before & they are not nice so as she was an old bunny we were more or less sure that her immune system was breaking down & probably would not survive the op, even if she did we were not confident that her stitches would heal. The vet didn't disagree so I made the decision to have her put down rather than a lingering death.
We were upset of course but we are sure we did the right thing.
As we have quite a few animals we are always going to be facing this sooner or later but we never quite get used to it.
A mystery disease which just kept getting chased from one place to another, in other words. That's always bad news, and as Alice was older, yes, chances were good that another problem would spring up anyway. Still, it's a hard decision to make, no matter what.
Well , we passed. The woman loved our other rabbits & said very kindly that we probably knew more than her about rabbits. It turned out that she had looked up the address on Google Earth before she came. To be quite honest after the last encoiunter with so called rabbit welfare societies we would not have been unduly bothered if we had not passed. So here is 'Eedee' so called because she came from Bleakholt Animal Sancutary, near Edenfield, Lancashire.

Sippy is having a bit of a problem with her. She keeps grumping at him when he feeds her so he thinks she has had a bad experience with men.So he is going to work on her , armed with a dandelion leaf everytime he goes in.
We have 6 cats, 3 dogs and 2 rabbits, though only one cat is really mine. He adores me (and will not leave me alone if i'm eating chicken...)
Neko: my cat
Leo: Neko's brother
Dibble: found abandoned as a kitten, we took him in
Baybee: was a feral kitten when we got him, took a long time but we tamed him and you would never guess he was a feral. He has really cute fangs that stick out sometimes!
Shot of the 4 indoor cats: from front to back (Dibble, Leo, Neko, Baybee)
These 4 are all male. We also have 2 female cats that stay in the garage. Sister; which is Baybee's sister, appropriatly named.. She hisses when you approach her but she never bites or scratches anymore. The other one is Jeany; an old blue-grey persian.
They each have their own heated beds in the garage so they're just as happy as our indoor cats ^_^
Tina: Shetland Sheepdog
Sylvia: Border Collie
Rhona: Throwback Sheltand Sheepdog. She's a bit thinner now though, we've been dieting her really well, and making sure she doesnt steal food.
Lastly the two bunnies: Luna and Silver (Luna left, Silver right).
They're brother and sister, and are both black lionhead rabbits.
