Parakeet Show

Hello everyone.

Did anybody catch that show on last night about Ring Necked Parakeets, and how they are in the UK. It was only on for about 15 minutes or so, but it was really interesting.

RE: Parakeet Show

I watched it and I enjoyed it. They are a non-native so I don't really know how to feel about them. They may not seem to be a problem now but who knows in the future?

From what I've heard, they have been studied and don't seem to be causing any problems even though they are non-native. They have increased in numbers dramatically though.

RE: Parakeet Show

Yes, it said that there were about 30,000 or so Ring Necked Parakeets living in the UK.
They are a problem to farmers, especially wine farmers, becasue the Parakeets eat the crops and grapes, which makes the farmers loose some of their proffit. Well, farmers are never satisfied with anything anything though are they!

Let's hope they don't turn into the next EGS!
