RE: Open canoe interest
I was wandering through HM e-petitions the other day and spotted a petition about canoeing which I imagine you've already signed. I thought of you immediately.

RE: Open canoe interest
Thanks for the link, wild canon - I've been thinking about trying to take some canoe lessons, but as an absolute beginner, I'm not sure how I'd get on (probably round in circles), at least I now have some idea about where to start, cheers.

I was a qualified instructor. Although my qualifications have lapsed, I am still capable, so if ever your round my way, then I'd be happy to give you some paddling instruction.

My husband and I went up to Yukon Territory and had a pleasant paddle around a small lake whilst on holiday a couple of years ago.
Yes, we paddled in circles! I discovered it's actually hard to synchronise with someone else.
On the other hand, when we were last in Canada, in May, the lodge had canoes. I took one out on my own, and had a lovely time. Probably could have done with some instruction, but I was having a great time anyway.

It's all in the wrist.

Yes, I don't think my husband quite caught on...when we used the separate canoes I was flying along...he was not quite as fast . I think he felt that the canoe was a bit 'tippy' as well...

My boys have done a bit , the younger one being a bit more canny than the older son. They loved it.

Thanks, wild canon. I'm also going to try and contact a local club, (found through a link on the site), and see if they're willing to help out a beginner.
