'Longhorn'? Beetle ID needed
Whilst walking in the norfolk broads, I saw this guy sat on a leaf. I think its some kind of long horn beetle, but I couldnt find a chart to ID it.
Excuse the quality of the picture, didnt have my 'proper' camera with me, just taken with my phone and cropped a bit.
Cheers, Tom.

Not very good on beetles but I'd take a stab at Agapanthia villosoviridescens
Great picture even though you didn't use your "proper" camera

Wow, that was fast and very accurate
Had a great day for wildlife that day, even saw a bittern for the first time. Again, needed the 'proper' camera for that one though!

Lol, yeah i did get to see a lot of interesting things lately. Have to confess the dragonflies were on a different day, but it was definately a good week Last week I saw my first marsh harrier too & seen quite a few since, hopefully get a photo soon, I just invested/spent all my pay on a new lens

just tigged that they were on different days when read your last post, a marsh harrier also well done never seen one, was it a male in all his splendour? Know how you feel about your camera, been trying to save for a while for a cannon digital body to go with my lenses as my body knackered up last year, will get though when the missus stops spending lol.

The first one I saw was a male yeah, but since then I saw the male & female passing food between them for the chicks in the reeds, was quite an awesome sight, I hope I have a camera ready next time though
Which camera body were you going to go for? I have a 30D at the moment which I got cheaply on ebay, looking for a 40D perhaps soon for the faster frame rate amongst other things

im looking for an eos digital body as i had cannon eos with several lenses including a 70-210, 400mm with 1.5 sigma teleconverter and am led to believe that if i buy an eos digital body they are compatable and they do fit a friend of mines but im not sure what his body is.

Well depending on your budget, the 400D, 30D and 40D are all great cameras, they can be bought pretty cheaply second-hand. Im not the biggest fan of the new 50D but i think it will grow on me, I had a quick go with someone else's a little while back. I think those lenses should still work with the new digital bodies yeah.

How lucky are you - I've never seen one Where I walk locally have reported seeing them occasionally and I always look out "just in case" . but no luck so far - I live in hope, fingers crossed.

To be honest the only reason I saw it was probably because I was doing survey work for the RSPB. We walk the paths you cant normally walk & we spotted it twice that day. Awesome bird, if I get a chance ill take a photo or a hundred & hope one comes out

Hickling broad...one of the best for wildlife as its quite inaccesible for a lot of the broads boats lol..thank heavens for potter higham bridge! We went there a few times but didnt see the mystery drummer boy unfortunately. But the broads as a whole i have many happy memories of,i wont be going anytime soon but at one time i was there most weekends,we had our boat at brundall. I still read the local forums and do hope to return one day.
