January - Birds in Flight

***IT MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA TO SUBSRIBE TO THIS THREAD, SO YOU CAN EASILY SEE OTHER PEOPLE'S ENTRIES***

A member named Riana and I have come up with the idea of posting a Photo of the Month Competition in this website.
We have been given the thumbs up from Xeract, the Wildlifeuk.net administrator to post such a competition.
The deadline for the competition will be on the final week of each month, so during the final week we can decide the winner.
Unfortunately the winner will not recieve any prizes, because it is just a bit of fun.

The winner will be informed through e-mail/personal message. The winner will also be included in a post on the thread.
On your thread, can you please give a name for your image, and if possible, include photogrpahy information, such as ISO, shutter speed etc. A new thread will be created for each month, so please be sure to enter in the right one!

If you have any further questions, then please contact me or Riana by personal message, and we will try our best to answer your question.

!!!!!THE COMPETITION DEADLINE FOR THIS MONTH IS 24/1/2008!!!!!!

The Categories for the year are:
January - Birds in Flight
February - Birds of Prey
March - Waterfowl (e.g ducks, swan geese etc)
April - (my birthday!) Insects
May - Landscape
June - Sunrise/sunsets
July - Snakes
August - Mammals
September - Aquatic Wildlife
October - Sea Birds
November - Close Ups
December - Wildlife in Frosty Conditions

Good luck to anyone who enters!!

RE: Photo of the Month Competition January 2008

So what is this months catagory? Can you narrow it down to one catagory a month? ie Jan = 'Birds in flight'; Feb = 'mammals'; Mar = 'insects'. etc.
It would make it easier for the judges too as it would be difficult to judge, say, a landscape against a wildlife 'action' shot. Just a thought.

I agree with Paul, a 'theme' for the month would be nice. This is a wonderful idea! Thank you jamiewade94 and riana Icon_biggrin .

Skylark, i think you will find most of the bigger forums have Photo competitions, ie Bird Forum. I had never heard or seen 'friends of Nature' Forum until you put link on your post. I will be subscribing though.

Your camera records all the details of the camera and lens settings, which you can access when using a programme such as Photoshop.

By the way, there's no 'e' on the end of lens!!! (sorry to be pedantic).

I can assure you Skylark that this idea was from Jamiewade and Riana several days ago, nothing fishing going on at all Icon_biggrin

Your site looks great though, some very interesting stuff on there.

And thanks a lot to Jamiewade and Riana for setting this idea up.
