Canon 400d with Sigma 170-500mm lense. God knows what settings! Im a point and shoot man!

Your camera records all the details of the camera and lens settings, which you can access when using a programme such as Photoshop.

By the way, there's no 'e' on the end of lens!!! (sorry to be pedantic).

Yes, thanks, i know the camera does that. I trawled through hundreds of photos that i had on disc so didnt bother to check the settings. And thanks for the spelling lesson.

Here's my offering - a Lesser Black-backed Gull taken from the Isle of Mull ferry last June.

Shot was taken at ISO200, f8 at 1/1600th.

Having missed Januarys comp and noticing Februarys is Birds of Prey, does this include totally wild BOP or BOP in captivity?

The competition can include anything like hawks, falcons or even herons.
For best results of winning, photograph the bird in its natural habitat, but birds in captivity are acceptable

Well not everyone gets a chance to take pictures of birds of prey in their natural habitats - not even me who lives bang in the middle of nowhere! lol I tried to take a picture of a buzzard yesterday on top of a telegraph pole (the buzzard was on the top, not me Icon_wink) & he flew off! Icon_sad

So it is ging to be an easy month to win then. We have had one entry so far, so at the moment someone is going to win!

I don't know if you saw this Skylark, but Herons are a bird of prey and you can easily get some good photos from them.

Erm Herons are NOT birds of prey, they are in fact 'wading birds' - of course they do take chicks & frogs, maybe the occasional mouse, but they are NOT classified as Birds of Prey! lol

Oh, I thought they were becasuse they catch and kill their own food aka prey, thus, birds of prey

You would think, I know, but they're not - birds of prey are birds who hunt primarily on the wing, they have very good eye sight & sharp talons & hooked beaks, so eagles, Kites, hawks, buzzards, harriers, vultures, falcons & owls. Icon_smile
