Identification Help Needed!
I was in Hylands Park in Chelmsford today, and I was walking around in the woods.
And right above me, high in the trees, was a very pale, almost white bird with black spots on its stomach. It had a very nice, melodious song. I thought it may be a Song Thrush, but it didn't look like the ones in my book.
Also when I was in the woods, I heard the very distinctive drumming noise of a Great Spotted Woodpecker. I unfortunately didn't see it.
Can anybody help and work out what that pale bird was for me? I don't have a picture I am afraid!
Thanks in advance,
Jamie Wade

Yes it was the size of a thrush, but not similar in colours. From what I could see, the only similarity was the black spots

Jamie, it sounds very much like a Song Thrush or Mistle Thrush to me. Mistle are quite a bit larger than Song Thrush. The song is quite different too. Can you find out which of the two species are commoner where you live. Is it Sussex where you live?
Heres some Song Thrushes:
Nah it's Essex mate!
