ID req'd please - strange marks in dog bowl.......

This metal dog bowl had been leant up against the outside wall of our porch (inside of bowl to wall) for a couple of weeks. When I went to use it today, I noticed these strange regular (yet irregular) marks. What on earth are they? The triangles measure approx 1-1.5 mm in length (there are even tinier ones on the right). Anyone any ideas (slug? but there is no evidence of slimy slug trail, mouse's tongue?). I am intrigued ... hope the image attaches OK...

Look like snail feeding mark to me. They don't always leave a trail though
