Hi, from No Fixed Abode
Hi Folks,
I am from Woolie-Back country in Durham, but spend time equally between UK,Spain and Sizzlin Sweden where it touched 30c at 9.30am this morning!
Too hot out and the evil, flying, man-eating insect life, the like of which I have never seen elsewhere,is making outdoor life unbearable at present, hence on the forum.
I live way out in the sticks at all 3 locations, so I come across a fair bit of interesting wildlife.
Best Regards to All,
Jack.

Hey Jack
We already have something in common, i to hate the hot weather.I LOVE the rain though hehe.
Sounds like you life`s interesting.
Welcome btw.
Oh and you`re lucky living in the middle of nowhere away from the 21st century life.I`m soooooooo envious.
If my spelling sucks it`s because i type too quick and then hit post before checking.

RE: Hi, from No Fixed Abode
welcometh jackflash
Thank you all kindly for the warm welcome.
Pleased to say its cooled off a little here in Dalsland Sweden
Just spotted 2 pair of beautiful stork at very close range, close to my house here.
Very unusual because I think its the furthest North they have been in Sweden as they are normally just in the extreme South.
Saw a lot of them in Spain, especially Extremadura where the church towers and telegraph poles are loaded with their nests,
Even had a pair with young just outside our window in a B&B down there.
Maybe not so good news here is that we have some Wolves prowling around and one of the cats disappeared three days ago.

Hi,Anastassia.
Thanks for your concern, but the cat is still missing.
About the time it went missing we heard some terrible sounds in the forest nearby and at the same time I noticed my Jack Russell was missing, so my first thoughts were the wolves had taken the dog.
However he eventually turned up looking the worse for wear and hobbling on three legs.
Still dont know what, if anything, happened and still hoping the cat might turn up.
Just have to wait and see.
Just had a guy here from Gothenburg made a 300km round trip to see the Storks, unfortunately he just missed them by half an hour.
Dont know exactly where they are nesting yet but keeping an eye out.
I am from the Weardale area by the way.
Many thanks to all,
Regards,Jack.

RE: Hi, from No Fixed Abode
Sorry to hear that Jack..hopefully your cat has just been scared by something and has gone into hiding for a while-mine did that and was gone for 5 days. Im glad your little dog returned safely.
It would be lovely to see some pics of where you are if you can. Do you have a favorite place of your 3 homes?

RE: Hi, from No Fixed Abode
Thanks Tass,
Hope to get round to a few pics sometime.
Tough question.
My roots and home base are in Weardale and I still have good feelings about the area even though I dont spend so much time there now.
All three are very different with a fair bit of wildlife around.
Dalsland,Sweden meaning dales is one of the prettiest parts of Sweden with rolling hills forests, lots of lakes some with beaches, small farms and very rural.
Lots of deer and elks or moose which camp out in my garden for the winter when I am in Spain.
A few wolves about, not popular with the sheep farmers and very occasional visits from an odd bear.
Birdlife is very good.Pretty West coast,Islands and Norway fairly close by.
Free access to all countryside except private gardens or mature crops
Place in Spain is quite green with lots of fruit farms about, quite a lot in the garden also, but I leave most of it for my good Spanish neighbours.
Open country,El Campo on three sides with open access, with lots of excellent wild fruit, herbs and wildlife including a few poisonous snakes and poisonous caterpillars, very dangerous if messed with. Bird life also good.
About twenty minutes into the mountains and hardly a car to be seen.
Sorry cant choose, but true what they say ,variety is the spice of life.
Best Regards for now,Will keep you posted on the cat.
Jack.

Many thanks George,
The good news is the cat turned up ok so maybe you were right about that.
She had plenty of tree climbing practise with two jack russells about.
The injured Mut is improving so hope he will be ok,otherwise all quiet today.
Just had a peep at your web-site,some really wonderful shots in there and also a very nice user friendly lay-out
Doubt if I could ever have the patience or ability to create something even half as good as that.
Wonder are you a native of the Shetlands or just retired there?
Best Regards,
Jack.
