Hey from a new hedgehog rehabilitator!
Hey all,
I work in a veterinary centre where we occasionnally get wildlife brought to us. I have recently taken it upon myself to help a very underweight hog to gain some weight and get healthy again!
Any handy tips would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers.

Hello Rou, welcome to the forums!
There are some good tips about feeding hedgehogs in this thread at the forums, so you might want to have a read through.

RE: Hey from a new hedgehog rehabilitator!
Hi Rou, Cazzagirl on here is a hedgehog carer, she can tell you all you need to know about caring for hedgehogs. She is currently on holiday though. I'm sure she will give you some useful tips when she gets back! She has a film of her hogs being used on springwatch on bbc 2 and the bbc is coming to film her work soon too.
Her wildlife uk Hog Blog is here: http://wildlifeuk.net/blogs/cazzagirl/ there is quite a lot of info about looking after hogs in there.
Xeract, I can't get your link to work, not sure if its just me!
A garden is always a series of losses set against a few triumphs, like life itself.

If anyone fancies a good little read on my latest thread go here >> http://www.wildlifeuk.net/hedgehog-talk-t-1092.html
add a bit to it if you know anything that hasn't been added to the thread. its all about hedgehogs and what people need to know and what people want to ask about them.

Hi Riana thanks for the welcome. Check out my hedgehog blog and see if you can add to it I'm trying to spread the word on it to kinda widen the knowledge about hedgehogs on here.

turns out the hedgehog i brought home today that i was meant to be rehabilitating died when in it's nesting bow. The hedgehog was very sick when i brought it home so i'm not surprised. atleast it died in a nice cos warm nest.
I shall be taking him to my local park where there are ducks and bushes and all sorts and will place the hedgehog under a bush. If you know of any hedgehogs in the south west that require rehabilitation then here i am.

Really sorry to here that Rou! Like you said it must have been very sick already, you did a great job getting it survive this long.

Thanks Bill. Like I said i'm not surprised it died last night as it was very very sick. I just hope that I get the opportunity to do this again for another animal in need and it to result in a success story.
