Having just registered today, I'm afraid I jumped the gun and posted to the Forum before discovering this Introductions section - so a belated Hello. Born in London, I spent over 30 years in Australia before settling very happily in Hampshire where my father's family lived in the same village for over 500 years . Have a general interest in wildlife but particularly in birds. Am having to start all over again and learn about UK birds - very different from birding around NSW but none the less enthralling. Almost made myself late for work this morning reading all the interesting posts and looking at the great photographs on this site.

Hi - Thanks for the welcome. I live near Basingstoke. There is some lovely countryside around here.

such a big county - I am right in the SW corner

My sister lived in Alderholt until recently - the SW is lovely around the New Forest.

Thanks for the welcome. I think it's a great site. Have browsed the photos - as you say, there are some fantastic ones there. I think the monthly competition is a great idea. I'm no great photographer unfortunately but hope to enter in future.
