hello from a newbie
Hi, found this site while trying to identify a moth!
I'm Annie and I live in south-west England
I'm mainly into wading birds and butterflies, bit of an interest in Purple Emperors which I inherited from my grandfather, who wrote a fairly famous (in butterfly circles!) book about them in the 1960's.

Hi Annie, welcome to the forums!
Did you manage to get your moth identified? I'm sure that one of the members here will be able to give you a hand if you haven't.

I think so, but I'm going to post a message in "insects" to try and confirm...

they like dog poo - in fact for such a majestic creature their habits are generally rather unsavory. I've got a good link for a site with some wonderful Emperor stories - are links allowed on this forum? If so I'll post it in "insects"

They wouldn't be allowed if you had created the account just to advertise the product/website. We had a member who signed up a few days ago, and his account was deleted within an hour of being made. Well done Xeract!

Hey Annie, I too live in the South West, in North Devon, where do you live?
Somerset coast, on the top floor of a building with my telescope permanently to hand!
I'm just starting out on birding really, the interest in waders comes from where I live - I'm particularly enjoying watching oystercatchers right now!
thanks all for the welcomes
