Grasshopper
Has anyone got a good tip for photographing or even finding Grasshoppers.
Recently I was walking over the moors and heard hundreds of Grasshoppers, so I thought I would try to photograph one. I searched for over an hour with no success and gave up totally frustrated. On returning to my camera back this is what was sitting on top

Sometimes you can look for ages in long grass for them, and hear loads of them, but can't see them at all. They have brilliant camouflage. Other times you will be walking and without even looking see one straight away, as always it's down to a bit of luck.

RE: Grasshopper
I found a large one sitting on our front door mat, outside in our front yard. I caught him and put him out back in the garden so he couldn't hop off into the road.
Is there any way to tell from looking them, whether they're a cricket or a Grasshopper? I know they generally make their noise differently, but is there any difference when looking?

"Grasshoppers have short antennae and their ears (or more properly, tympanal organs) are located on either side of the first segment of their abdomen. The Crickets have ears on on their fore tibia (the front legs), have antennae which are longer than their bodies, and usually have a more developed ovipositor (in the females, naturally)."
I had to look this up before...

RE: Grasshopper
I think in general aren't grasshoppers larger than crickets? That would be the easiest way to tell them apart.
