RE: Frog photos

Hi Tass

Skinny frogs, especially when there appears to be plenty of food about, is usually a sign that the frog is suffering from some kind of vitamin / mineral deficiency which can sometimes be be cause by some form of pollutant, either in the water itself or in the surrounding area. This could also account for the pallid colouring. You may notice that it only affects one or two frogs in the pond and that is because, unlike some of their neighbours, they have a weaker immune system which can't cope. The REAL nasty to watch out for is the RANAVIRUS or 'red-leg'. The symptoms are self explanatory - red legs- and this can totally decimate the population of your pond. If you see any frog apparently suffering from this, then net it out of the pond if you can or it will pass it on to the others.

RE: Frog photos

some great froggy pics there.........I have heard that the reason we are getting different coloured frogs these days is that that's how they are responding to pollution within their environment, apparently various chemicals can cause a change in the pigmentation of the skin colour, unfortunately this in turn isn't helping frog numbers as they are then easy to spot for prey within their environment, and also less protected against the elements. As to if this is true or not I have no idea.
