It is amazing how human foxes sound like when they call. When they let out their high pitched shriek, it sounds uncannily like a human scream, I can imagine that it would be a bit spooky if you were walking in the woods and heard that.

The reason I bring it up is a few people I was talking to last night mentioned that last year they had heard screams coming from the woods behind their house, I told them it was most likely a fox, but I don't think they believed me!

Could be peacocks as well...it's common here in the US to have peacocks wake up the neighbourhood .

Well I don't think we have any peacocks in the woods here, but certainly foxes can sound like someone dying, when they're merely mating!

We have heard foxes screaming out in front but Skippy thinks that is when the vixen is about to have a new litter & is chasing off the youngsters from the previous year.
