Fireworks

With the firework season starting, do you think that fireworks should be more strictly regulated to decrease the stress on wildlife? Especially as the fireworks are not now just confined to the weekend of the 5th, but often several weeks before and after.

RE: Fireworks

I think that fireworks should be more strictly regulated, and are best left to the professionals.

I know that loud noises cause stress for all animals, but do they cause actual injuries to animals regularly?

RE: Fireworks

Fireworks are becoming a nuisance generally, I begrudge the amount of money literally being blown up when there are so many more deserving causes. I agree with Richard that they should be left to the professionals. I also think like christmas it starts too early and continues way past the date. I know the animals find it a distressing time which gets longer and louder every year. Would be interested hearing other peoples views.

RE: Fireworks

Here in the United States fireworks are a serious problem.  Not only do they disturb dogs and cats (not to mention the owners of said animals), but in many states fireworks are a considerable fire hazard.  So much so, that many municipalities restrict the use of fireworks to very specific days and hours, whilst other cities and town may ban fireworks altogether.

Oddly, because of the vastness of the United States, I don't think that wildlife is affected by fireworks noise and activity as much as domestic animals are affected.

Because I work graveyard shift, I hate fireworks, and wish that they would be banned altogether.
