Hi,
Thanks for your reply and suggestion.
I live on a hill top near Crickhowell, in the Brecon Beacons. My garden & a paddock comprise 2 acres. I've been here for 20 years and have never seen a deer nearby - it's small holding and sheep country.

RE: Faeces identification

Hi,

I was trying to identify a different type of animals feces, when I saw your post.....looks like the other person is right.....

It is either a. Deer, b. Elk, or c. Llama....check out:

We have lots of deers here, and their droppings sure look like that.

Cheers from the US

RE: Faeces identification

My guess was deer before reading any of the other responses so Im going with that too. It seems there would probably be suitable habitat there, theyre probably just really good at hiding Icon_smile

Thanks for your suggestions, everyone. I think we must have a resident Muntjac deer, which is great news - apart from for my flower beds!

RE: Faeces identification

Just to keep the matter live, our local deer expert has written to me as follows:

You may have muntjac about as there are occasional reports of muntjac near crickhowell but those faecal pellets are definitely not muntjac! Looking at your photo its definitely not a deer species. Deer all produce individual faecal pellets that can be found on the ground usually in groups. From the photo it looks like a herbivore (sheep or goat maybe). Without further info I can't provide any more light I'm afraid but its definitely not deer.

Any comments on this expert opinion would be welcome!

Thanks
