European Eagle Owl

Last year we had a Harris Hawk loose from captivity & saw it regularly but it was recaptured , much to our dismay as it had found another one somehow & paired up . This year we are seeing the lone one quite regularly & it is keeping the ever growing population collared doves down.

In the Bolton evening news last month there is also a European Eagle Owl  at loose in Bolton. It has been spotted regularly in the Heaton area of the town. I thought it might be of interest to other bird enthusiasts so I am attempting to attach a hyperlink to the video clip of it.

RE: European Eagle Owl

Thank you for that link, tibbar14.

One of the closest encounters I have had with an owl was getting to look at a European Eagle Owl up close at the London Zoo. The handler was taking it out for a walk. A magnificent bird, no doubt.

Thank you for the link tibbar, but I can't see a video on the site. Is there meant to be? I would be quite interested in seeing such a bird in a town.

The video is still there, but your computer may require an update to run. I know I had to allow some update or other in order to view the video.

RE: European Eagle Owl

I have just found out how to view the video, and it is a good watch. The camerman must have been incredibly dedicated to spend 100 hours looking for the bird, but to see an eagle owl up close like that must be worth the wait.
