We have two chickens which roam about the garden during the day, they are locked up at night as foxes are sometimes about. We also have seen a Buzzard on many occasions around the garden, I have even seen one on the Chicken coop whilst they have been inside. They are not happy about that! I am assured that Buzzards do not eat chickens, but I just wondered what other peoples thoughts & experiences are regarding this. I took some great photos as he was so close, I have attached one here but I have also posted them up on a post about Buzzards on hooelake.org.    

No Buzzard has ever read or written a book on what they eat - only humans have described what buzzards eat.

The good news is they probably don't eat them as chickens are rather large birds - but I'm human!!. Buzzards tend to go after small ground prey that is easy to catch. Common prey are rabbits voles, mice, insects etc., and I've also seen them walking across ploughed fields looking for worms.

But your chickens don't know that!!

They will predate pheasants so would take chickens. Try to keep an eye on them or keep the chickens penned in.
