Didn't introduce myself.

Hey, my name is Joe, but you can call me Joe. I searched for a hobby and found Birdwatching. I seem to have a knack for identifying birds. But I only like look for bugs, pondlife, fish and woodland animals. I live near a forest, so I'll have to go down there at the weekend and have a mooch around.

Anyway, I'm 13 years old, but I am an Adult Member of the RSPB for 3 reasons.

1) Donate more to them.
2) Better magazine (Birds.)
3) I get the latest Bird identification book.

As my username suggests, I REALLY like Ravens after seeing one in a birds of prey centre. I also like snowy and tawney owls, Golden and Bald eagles, Woodpeckers and Mallards, which I am lucky to see alot of.

Hello Raven!

Welcome to the forums. It's great to hear you are a member of the RSPB, especially an adult member. I'm a great fan of woodpeckers too, especially after seeing three Greens recently!

Hello Raven, have you been lucky enough to see Bald Eagles, then?

Where I live, they are quite common, and they even breed and nest within the city limits of Seattle! We can drive only 80 miles north and see dozens of them in the winter--almost one in every tree!

I met my husband through a birdwatching expedition to see a local woodpecker (Lewis' Woodpecker), so I am very fond of the woodpeckers as well Icon_smile .

Welcome to Wildlife UK!

Thank you!
Yeah, it was in a birds of prey rehabillitation centre, there were 3 of them. 'twas brilliant!

I've had a few great spotted woodpeckers come to my bird table which is home made.

Thanks again! =]

RE: Didn't introduce myself.

This winter I will try to head north and see if I can get some photos of the Bald Eagles to post.

It is a truly amazing sight to see, there can be fifty or more eagles as far as the eye can see--almost one on every fencepost!

Hi Joe, welcome to the forum!

The Raven at the local Bird of Prey centre to me is a great character - very intelligent bird. They have to keep an eye on him during displays though as he is quite young and has a taste for going for peoples toes if they are wearing open toes shoes etc.

RE: Didn't introduce myself.

Hey Joe! And welcome - I'm still new myself & finding my way around!

I love Ravens too - we had a nesting pair in our woods, just opposite our house, they caused quite a stir locally as they've never nested here, in our neck of the woods, in Devon before. I spied lots of people from the bathroom window watching the birds through binoculars, they became a local excitement & would roost in the Scots Pine trees half a mile away after the two chicks had fledged. I haven't seen them since though.
