Hi - am new to this forum, Anyway I got a cam in tawny owl box in my garden, they nested there for a few year so I thought why not stick cam in . Well everything’s been fine she’s hatched 3 eggs and something large appeared in there so I went up while she was out to have a quick look and it a savaged magpie! Chicks look happy but box is very crowded especially when she’s in there too (webcam aint great so had to check) she has a mate I dunno the biology of tawny’s but I can’t imagine how they killed it or got it in box its similar size to them as I only turn on cam in morn and eve. Anyway is this normal?? Thought they ate smaller creatures, am worried it might infest the chicks with maggots/lice. (sorry about terrible pic had one free hand! 3 chicks in foreground)
