RE: comet holmes
Thanks for letting us know about it, I had no idea. Is it viewable with the naked eye?

RE: comet holmes
hi
you can see it with the naked eye,but looking though 16x50 binoculars you can see it quite well, it was a very hard object to spot and suddenly it has exploded in to a very bright object now.

RE: comet holmes
Thank you for letting us know. Sorry to be a pain but is it still visible now? The couple of times I've been out to have a look has been cloudy (no surprises there!).

RE: comet holmes
It's an impressive sight, worth looking at through binoculars at least. Find Pleiades and go about a hand span to the left and up a bit to Perseus. Comet holmes is right in the middle.
Additional:
I've just come back from walking the dog, it's 10.45 pm and the sky has cleared. Currently, Comet Holmes is virtually directly overhead, so it's a hand span (fingers and thumb spread wide and the distance from tip of thumb to tip of little finger) vertically up and a little to the left of Pleiades. I don't know if it's my imagination, but it looks bigger tonight than it did on Saturday night. Big fuzzy ball, easily distinguished from the stars surrounding it.

RE: comet holmes
Clear sky tonight, so I thought I would have a go at photographing comet Holmes:

These were taken with my Canon 400D fitted to my Kowa 824 spotting scope via a SLR adapter which gives me an 850mm f13.5 telephoto. I set the ISO to 1600. I have made minimal adjustments in Photoshop, simply reduced the image to grey scale and altered the levels a little.
I'm sure it's again bigger than last time I looked at it.

Great photos! Thanks for posting! The technical camera details went way over my head but I find it very impressive that you managed to get a photo of an object like this.
