Bug iD

Has anyone any clues to the iD of this bug? It seems to be a 'fly' but has like pollen on it's legs.

RE: Bug iD

I'm not sure what that is, I have never seen a bug like it before. It does look like it is carrying pollen, could it be some kind of solitary bee or wasp?

RE: Bug iD

It's a hymenoptera...not a wasp though (they have pinched waists). I'll see if I can't do some research Icon_smile .

RE: Bug iD

I'd be very interested to see what this is. I haven't seen it before either and I can't see it in any book or website I've looked at.

RE: Bug iD

It could well be. I've looked at some pictures on the internet and none of them are conclusive, but there is definitely a possibility that it is.
