RE: Bird Quiz

I'm going with Kentish Plover.

Unless the photo has got the colours all wrong, the legs are not yellow enough for a Little Ringed Plover, but they do look correct for a Kentish Plover.

By the way, the Kentish Plover is known as Snowy Plover in the US, and I have seen them. They are rare, and endangered here.

RE: Bird Quiz

Yes! Well done Kingfisher, it is indeed a Kentish Plover, photographed on the beach at Marazion in Cornwall a few years ago. That puts you in joint 3rd place with Nicola and The Stoop.

Heres another to reflect upon!

RE: Bird Quiz

All wrong. This is another rarity in the UK. This one spent October 2006 - May 2007 on the Hayle Estuary.

RE: Bird Quiz

No guesses! Not even from Kingfisher. Its another American wader. This one gets its name from its summer plumage (the photo is in witer plumage)
