RE: Bird of the Day!

We haven't had a bird of the day in a while, so here's one picked from my top three birds list.

The swift, because of the way it looks while flying! (not my picture):

RE: Bird of the Day!

I see swifts in the summer. Loads of them flying around and feeding on the wing. Amazing. Icon_smile
If Swifts and Swallows feed on the wing (usually), does that make them birds of prey?

Bird of the Day had to be the KING EIDER i saw on Friday in North Devon. What a beast. It's bill was massive!

I know...I'm not either, really. Older than you, though. Cornwall Birder, you are a young sprite! And congratulations on the King Eider! That would be an extreme rarity where I am--I think they've been seen only a couple of times in Washington State.

Well done on you Paul, good on you! Icon_smile I read somewhere that if you smoke, you spent an average of £15,000-£20,000 in cigarrettes a year! :O.
In my opinion that is an absolute waste of money, so I have never smoked, and never will. That is my one goal in life.

Icon_eek

Is it really that much? The cost of a pack of cigarettes averages $4.49, including taxes. Using this number, a pack-a-day smoker burns through about $31.43 per week, or $1,635 per year ( or £823).

Sounds more like over a twenty year period, unless the cost of smoking in the UK is considerably higher than the US.

Nevertheless, good on you Paul!
