Bird Flu

I think this topic has been done to death in the media, but what are your thoughts on Bird Flu? Do you think we should we worried?

It's very sad that thousands of birds have had to be culled because of the outbreak of H5N1 amongst them, although I think it was unfortunately necessary.

RE: Bird Flu

It has not yet had much of an effect in the United States. The West Nile virus is more in the headlines here.

So far, most of the West has been spared the serious complications of Bird Flu. But once the ball starts rolling, so to speak, it could be the equivalent of the Spanish Influenza in 1918. Let us hope not!

RE: Bird Flu

I don't think the West Nile virus has been in the news here at all, but Bird Flu has been in and out of the news constantly for the last couple of years.

The virus hasn't mutated yet, but if/when it does it could spread rapidly amongst humans just as it did amongst birds in Norfolk very recently.
