Beginner telescope

I've decided to take the plunge and buy a telescope! I'm looking for around £200 price range, and I think I'm going to go for a reflective rather than refractive because of chromatic aberration.

Any suggestions for a good beginner scope would be very appreciated!

(seems like all I'm doing is asking for help today! Icon_smile)

RE: Beginner telescope

For a (belated) response, I think that if you are just learning you should buy a high quality pair of binoculars and learn the positions of objects in the sky. This will make it much easier to move onto a telescope later.

I have to admit I didn't do this when I started and I regret it now! I have finally got the hang of it and learning the constellations but if I had a chance to learn again I would definitely start with binoculars.

If you are set on a telescope, a dobsonian mount newtonian refractor is a great beginner scope as the base is very solid to give you a clear view.
