RE: Bee boxes
Caz, it looks great, I'm sure the bees will love it!
Amethyst it does look like your bees are getting busy, I'm sure its only a matter of time before they let their guard down and let you see them doing some of their work

RE: Bee boxes
Well I put some roofing felt over the top of it to keep the bamboo dry and have tied it about a foot above the ground yesterday - maybe I should move it a bit higher after all?
Will keep you posted if I get anything - I'm watching!!!!

RE: Bee boxes
Hows the bee watching going for you Amethyst and Caz? There was a brief break in wet weather for us yesterday and the day before so I don't know if that helped.

RE: Bee boxes
I haven't many bees at all this year, there are usually many bees around by now aren't there? Or is that just my imagination. I hope the bee boxes are getting some use I think the bees really need some help this summer.
I haven't seen as many wasps as usual either this year. We managed to have a BBQ last night and didn't have one attacking the the cokes. I almost missed them in a way....

RE: Bee boxes
Well I must report - that absolutely nothing new is visible with my bee box!!!
I haven't seen any bees in the garden lately either - though I have been away and the weather has kept me indoors!
I was expecting the latest two holes (with rose leaves) to get finished of with mud as the others are - but no change!
I had a quick look into leafcutter bees
http://www.moraybeekeepers.co.uk/solitary_bees.htm
- and that looks exactly the same - so I suppose there are at least two different species in residence in my bee box
I had to chuckle at the succinctly named "The Spring (Hairy-footed) Flower Bee", that website mentioned! Cute - but I dont think I've ever seen one!

RE: Bee boxes
I also admit I haven't seen many bees at all, if any, in the garden in the last couple of weeks which is very worrying. That's encouraging that you have some different species in there though.
I don't think I've ever heard of the Hairy Footed bee either

RE: Bee boxes
That's is strange that they didn't finish off the two holes Amethyst, they must have been disturbed by something. Maybe a terrential downpour.
