Are you seeing different birds in your garden?
Our feeding station is geared to goldfinches as most of you know. We are now upto as many as 20 in the 'charm'. We have now got 4 feeders with niger seed in them , a total of 16 feeding holes & we put niger in the mixed seed in the tray also to help the younger ones.
They are joined by the odd greenfinch & today 2 long-tailed tits, followed by the growing flock of sparrows.
Normally the long tailed tits come seperately in a medium sized flock who arrive quickly & then disappear just as fast in about 2 days.
All the thrushes & blackbirds have also disappeared & we now only have 1 robin & the odd blue/great tit. The brain damaged magpie is still a daily visitor interspersed with 2 (B42's) collared doves.
The swallows have all gone now except for the odd stray which skippy always feels sorry for.
Has anyone else noticed that the visiting birds have changed with the seasons?

RE: Are you seeing different birds in your garden?
Definitely
I have flocks of starlings and the occasional black bird in July and now have lots of house sparrows which cheer me up as they are in decline.
I am so glad your magpie is doing so well still
Am sad because soon I will not be able to do any bird watching on weekdays and will not get anything done at weekends because I have to catch up with my bird watching in the polytunnel!

I've definitely seen some changes too, there have not been anywhere near as many birds recently actually. Like you there haven't been many blackbirds.
I'm glad your magpie is around too.

The US version--swallows appear to be mostly gone, but ducks are coming into the local waters for migration.

Well, I have had a big variety of birds in my garden, I've had a few blue-tits, maybe more since I got a peanut feeder, a great spotted woodpecker on my bird-table, a great influx of robins, which is a bit too early, right?
I've also had 3 woodpidgeons in my garden at the same time. =]

Lots of starlings, I like feeding them because they are entertaining to watch. Plus I like seeing them swirling in there big flock when the occasional sparrowhawk flies over.

Wow that's amazing. When I was on holiday in France with my friend, there would always be Buzzards sitting on the hay barrels in the fields. We would also get Hoopoes in the garden aswell.
I also saw the pale/white buzzard as well.

I have not had much different in my garden this winter. Still mostly chickadees (the US version of tits) and Oregon Juncos.
