Hi Everyone,
My name is Mo and I live in Wales with my partner. We have 3 acres of woodland and 2 acres of wet pasture on which we are busy planting trees..especially fruit trees and currants. I have a wildlife pond which I love so much..(I suffer from M E and it's wonderful just to sit and watch the comings and goings of everything) and the multitude of birdfeeders scattered about.
Tony my partner is building a water turbine ..we are hoping to generate our own electricity.
I have only read a few posts but they have really fired me up ..for instance we have a blackbird's nest behind the house and rats about so was concerned about the posts on that. We are vegans and don't kill anything..though I'm not averse to rehoming our furry ratty friends a few miles from here. Trouble is they are so intelligent (and despite their bad press quite cute!}Anyway..nice to meet you all!
Hello Mo, welcome to WildlifeUK. You are extremely lucky to have your own woodland! What sort of birds do you see there?

When I am old enough to buy a house, I would one with a nice big pond in the garden where I can have ducks, Lovely!
Hi Jamie,
We have long tailed tits, marsh tits, blue and great tits, coal tits, chaffinches, crows, dunnocks, blackbirds, siskins, robins, wrens, nuthatches, magpies, jays, lesser and greater spotted woodpeckers, woodpigeons, ring collared doves, woodpigeons, owls (I've heard 3 different calls at night, little owl and tawny and I think a long eared owl but haven't seen one yet..and as my name suggests I feel an affinity with them,) and magnificent red tailed kites. Saw 8 of them once on top of the land wheeling, gliding on the air currents and diving down ..amazing!
No ducks sadly!
Long Tailed Tits - my favourites! I have never heard of Ring Collared Doves though. Do they look like this?

If so, they are called Collared Doves, not RING Collared Dove.
Sorry Jamie..I stand corrected! (I got mixed up as we have collared doves and wood pigeons which are also called ring doves)

Mmmm! Duck and orange sauce, or duck pate, lovely.Icon_mrgreen

Thats OK Mo! Icon_cheesygrin

Hmmm... that sounds quite nice Richard, but I would rather keep them as pets, not for Sunday lunch!

Let us hope you never have occasion to 'eat' your 'words' Icon_cheesygrin .
