Hi I'm new to this, though I have been watching butterflies on the Priddy Mineries for the last 10 years and just starting to find out names of them.
Does anyone else know this site. It's amazing, at this time of year there are hundreds of butterflies on a nice day. I don't know what they all are but I have seen lots of different species including Marble whites, skippers and fritillaries.
It's a hotspot for wildlife on the top of the Mendip Hills.
Does anyone know what this is? A friend took this pic in JUne. We thought it was a purple hairstreak, but now I'm not so sure?
Thanks

I know a gatekeeper has been mentioned, but does it count without a photo? because i caught a (closed wing) shot yesterday if its any good for the list?...

hi outdoorman
it counts without a photo but nice to have a photo to show people who don't know what they look like

An NT site I regularly go to close to me - Frensham Great Pond - they have Silver Studded Blue too but I don't think this is the female of that as there are no orange markings. Can't think what else it can be ......
Whilst I'm here - I saw my first ever Small Copper the other day - I know it's already been mentioned in the sightings but here is a picture

I was thrilled to see it
