Had news today of a large flock of golden plover in the Peak District, just a mile or so from my home, so went after work to see them.

Counted over 50 on some pasture, greedily feeding on worms. Took a few photos, but really needed a longer lens than my 400mm, so will return in the next few days equipped with digiscoping gear.

Finally the sun went down, but managed to get this group before the light failed completely
You are so fortunate to see them in breeding plumage! We only see them here in Washington State in winter plumage, and they are not nearly as exciting and beautiful.

Kingfisher
As they breed on the moorlands around here, we only get them in the spring and summer months, when they are changing into, then displaying, their breeding plumage.
In my part of Ireland I only see them in their winter plumage too, so its nice to e them in their summer plumage.
