I saw a small article in the newspaper today about how we might be getting many more Siskins this year, as the ones that live in Scandinavia are coming over here due to a poor crop this year. I personally love siskins so this is good news for me!
People are being asked to report siskin sightings to the British Trust for Ornithology, presumably to see exactly how many have made there way over.
I saw at least 50 in a flock together on Saturday at my local patch, Cornmill Meadows, part of Lee Valley Country Park in North London.
I'll check out the BTO and report the sighting there, especially as I have seen Siskins there most times I have visited over the winter.
Nope have never seen any EVER

. I would really love to though.

They seem to particularly like alder so if there's some damp woodland near you that's the place to start looking.

Ok thanks. I suppose that the closest place for that is Danbury Woods in, well Danbury! lol. And also Norsey Woods in Billericay
I've only ever seen one and that was last November in my old garden, before I moved house

Yes I have them visit my garden regularly. In my first post I asked for help identifying one. Since then they have become regular visitors:

We don't get Siskins at all in our garden but they are daily visitors to our friends in Wales: -
I took this one last time we were there.
I thought they were all being forcibly repatriated to Denmark...
Yes we had 2 on the sunflower hearts only a few hours ago - the most I've ever seen in the garden is 4 & they're so tame!
Here in Wales we have a multitude..but they only started coming to our feeders when I put nyger seed out (hoping for goldfinches). I'd never seen siskins before (lived in Wales for 2 years..now I really love them.
