I wasn't taking the mickey Jamie. It was a very good description of the call.
Oooh right ok then. I think that the Chiffchaff has got the most easiest call to recognise and remember. Its called a Chiffchaff, and its call is chiff-chaff chiff-chaff. Easy!
Ahh but not all the time. It also goes Chiff-chaff chiff chiff chaff chiff chaff chaff chiff chiff etc etc etc......
You've missed a chiff there
I wasn't taking the mickey - just laughing with you!

Every year I struggle with garden warbler and blackcap. Seeing as they are more likely heard than seen, is there an easy way to tell them apart?
Bird calls are so hard to explain in words!
Blackcap is a little more harsh than Garden Wabler. GW is very flutey compared to BC. Best to listen to listen to a CD of the two and compare.

Ha! Icon_cheesygrin

I also saw my first Blackcap at Hanningfield, also my first Common Tern, Little Gull, Red Crested Pochard and my first BRAMBLING!

So, are we all agreed that this:

is a Whitethroat?

Its definately a Whitethroat Jamie. Are you sure about the Brambling? Its getting quite late for Brambling to be in the country.
