I just picked up a brilliant book for £5, called "A Field Guide to the Wildlife of the British Isles" by Alice Tomsett. For that price you can't really go wrong, but it's got a separate page with full colour photo for each animal including many birds, as well as distribution maps and information on each animal. I haven't given it a proper read yet but looks like a good buy so far.

Sounds interesting, and for £5 a bargain. Where did you get it from? And is it small enough to carry around on a trip out?
