Hello everyone!
My name is Alison, I'm an amateur wildlife photographer, with a keen interest in zoology and a passion for animals. I'm also a vegetarian with veganistic leanings.
In my life I've owned many animals, presently one cat, one dog and two domestic rats. For me, keeping animals is a wonderful way to study them closely, and develop compassion for them.
I have many aspirations - to write nature books, help charities, expand welfare awareness, travel the world with my photography, and I also paint and sculpt. I have an ear for music, but have never pursued it.
I'm 25, and although I come from England I have lived in Wales for 20 years and consider it my true home. It's rural areas offer wonderful opportunities to mingle with UK wildlife, and as a photographer I really value that.
One day I hope to sell enough photographs to afford a top-notch SLR and take it to remote areas of the world in search of rare and new species.

I stumbled upon this forum while searching for places in the UK that are known for their wildlife concentration, and decided to join up! So here I am, happy to meet you all, and hope to get to know everyone very soon Icon_redface
Hello Alison, pleased to mee you, and welcome to the forums! You'll definitely enjoy the forums if you have a passion for wildlife Icon_biggrin

Welsh countryside is really beautiful, when I have visited I've always enjoyed it. I would love to see some of your photos, there is a gallery here if you would like to add a few.
Hi Alison and Welcome

Ironically, I have recently pursued music but don't have an ear for it!Icon_rolleyes

I also lived in South Wales for a few years. It is amazing how quickly you can get away from people. I do miss the scenery, which of course makes a great backdrop for wildlife photography.

Best wishes

Hello Alison from Essex! Icon_cheesygrin
Hi Alison and a warm welcome from Derbyshire. I too enjoy Wales and spend a fair amount of time there. This year my wife and I intend to do all the "little trains of Wales", touring in our motorhome.

My father was born in South Wales, down the pit at 14! He left when he was 19 and never wanted to return. Things are much different now than they were when he was a lad, thank goodness.
Hello to you all, and thankyou for your welcomes!
I'm hoping the weather will hold out tomorrow long enough for a trip to the wetlands, for for bird photography :-) So I should - fingers crossed - have some better contributions for the gallery! Most of my current photos are from sanctuaries, rescue homes and zoos, so don't tend to be of native species.
Hi Alison and welcome from Cornwall. Hope you enjoy yourself on here, it is a wonderfully friendly forum filled with people of all ages, abilities and experiences to share.
