This is a radio series that is just starting up on Radio 4, Tuesdays at 9.00 am. I caught up with it on iplayer, and think people might be interested. From the introductory programme, it sounds as if it's a Natural History Unit project - they've got people placed in different spots all over the world, and will be following all sorts of migration patterns - birds and animals of all sorts.

They're setting up a website too, and there will be opportunities to get involved in surveys and such. Probably worth a listen, if you haven't done so already. Smile
Thanks for posting this, I have always been really interested in migrations of animals and how they do it, how they know where to go etc. If I'm able to tomorrow I'll give it a listen, if not then I'll have to wait for the website to be setup.
I listened to the introductory programme last week, it sounds as though it's going to be great. The latest programme (last weeks at the moment) can be heard on BBC Radio 4 Listen-again page on the BBC Website.
Great thanks for that, I'll give it a listen later on today.
It sounds great, not really being a listener of radio 4 I wouldn't have known about it so thanks for pointing it out.

I've always had an interest in mass migrations, and how all of a species knows when and where to meet even though they may have to travel hundreds of miles to get there. Is there any parts of the program about mass migrations?
There's a lot more information on the World on the Move page on the BBC Website.
Thankyou! I'll get reading! Icon_biggrin
I heard the program for the first time yesterday morning, and it was very interesting. They had a feature on the Osprey, and were tracking it using GPS ( I think) across the globe as it made its way back here. They also talked about wildebeast, and the correspondent in the Serengeti was watching wildebeast stretch into the distance for around 10km!
This is proving to be a really great series and I have to confess there was a tear in my eye when in this week's programme, Logie the Osprey arrived back at her nest in Scotland.
I've picked up a few of the programs although unfortunately not enough to get the full picture of what's going on. What I have heard has been brilliant though.
Is the program still going? It's still on the BBC website so I assume it is. Glad to hear that it's still going well.
