I'm sure most of you have noticed that this years Winter has been much warmer - and wetter - than usual, and this has been confirmed by a report which says that this Winter is the second warmest on record.
A lot of people seeming to be jumping to the conclusion that this is a sign of global warming, which alarms me as in reality you can't make any conclusion from one piece of data.

No you can't make a conclusion from any single piece of data but did you also read that the last five years have had the highest five average temperatures on record? That is much more interesting in my opinion than us having the hottest Winter on record.
I do think that's it's the
overall effect that's worrying. We've had bizarre weather in my part of the world this year, but when I read about islands in the Pacific Ocean disappearing because the water level of the ocean is getting higher, and villages losing their fresh water ponds because the salt water from the sea has invaded, that's worrisome. Whether or not we can attribute it to global warming is the question--we may live long enough to find out though

What most worries me is that despite all the evidence pointing to global warming and the consequences of not drastically changing how we live there are still politicians and economists who either refuse to believe in it and call it a natural cycle of the Earth's climate, or say that they do believe in it but the economic consequences of doing anything about it are too great.

The economic consequences of not doing anything is much greater than the doing something. These politicians are supposed to be leaders but really they are too afraid to make a big but neccessary decision.
It is such a shame for the environment that George Bush won the last election.
I am hoping that a bit less than two years from now we can reverse that worrisome trend...

Warmer weather? Can't see the problem really!
On a serious note, there is a program on the BBC soon which "examines" the role nature is playing in global warming. It should be an interesting watch - I'm looking forward to see if they can come up with a plausible explanation for the apparent evidence of GW that dosen't involve humans.
