Hello everyone

I was wondering if you could help me. I was at the River Crouch in Essex today, and I saw a bird that I have been seeing for quite a long time, but never actually got a glimpse of noticable features.
I did today, however, get a glimpse, and this is my description:

Sparrow sized
Big black dot on its breast
Streaked front
Dark brown back
Lighter brown front
Orange Legs

I am looking at the possibility of it being a Pipit, but I am not entirely sure. Can anyone tell me what the bird is?

It could be, but it doesn't have the big black dot on its breast though

If you look at the photo top left of that page the bird does have a black dot on its front ?
