Great stories, thanks for posting, I really enjoyed reading them both!

Tibbar, that's interesting about the tapeworms being carried by earthworms, because don't the birds eat earthworms in the wild?
Tapeworm are also found in Mealworm, so i wouldn't worry to much about feeding Earthworm. Beetles being "good" host for the Tape.

Sorry, a bit misleading here. As long as the Mealworms are purchased from a "reputable" breeder they should be ok. But there are breeders that don't control for Tapeworm.

I knew that worms could carry tapeworm that';s why I was going for maggots but I didn't know about mealworms . I would think that these were from a reputable breeder though as my friend raised hawks. Interesting point though.
