Gonebirdin, please keep us informed how it goes. It would be brilliant to finally get some evidence that they do live in the UK!
I had one stroll across the road in front of me whilst driving round a corner on a narrow country lane here in Norfolk. It turned out to be a black leopard/panther. It seemed to be completely unaware of my car and was about 25-30 feet in front of me. I watched it for about 2 minutes as it fiddled about in the headgerow before wandering off.
I went back later with a friend who said the tracks were certainly a big cat, no claw marks in the print like you get with a dog.
It's been around this area for about 18 months and been seen by many. Sadly no pics though.
Certainly would have worried me if I'd been on foot.
Wow, that's incredible! I've never known someone who managed to see more than a glimpse of the big cats. A shame you didn't have a camera!
